…to the Carolina Theatre, home of The Carolina Barn
Dance in Spruce Pine. Spruce Pine is a quaint little town nestled
in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western
North Carolina, complete with a railroad and a
river. With breathtaking views, cool clean air and
serenity all its own, visitors have come from far
and wide to experience the diverse interests that Spruce Pine
holds - like the Carolina Theatre.
The area surrounding the Carolina Theatre and Spruce Pine in Mitchell County NC
is home to almost 100 professional artisans,
showcasing glass, pottery, weavers and jewelry.
There are also many unique and natural wonders. Some
of which are: Roan Mountain, home of the world’s
largest naturally-occurring rhododendron garden,
Grandfather Mountain, one of the world’s oldest
mountains and Mount Mitchell, highest peak east of
the Rockies. Spruce Pine's Mineral District has one
of the most abundant distributions of gems and
minerals of any place on earth. Our feldspar mines
provided the materials that were used to construct
the mirror for the famous Hale Telescope on Mount
Palomar in California. Mitchell County NC alone, with
its mining heritage, produces nearly 100% of the
world’s ultra-high purity quartz. That means that
every computer in the world uses Spruce Pine quartz
in their manufacturing process! The Appalachian
Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, Nolichucky River, Toe
River, Linville Caverns, Linville Falls and the
world-renowned Penland School of Crafts are just a
few of the spectacular attractions that await you
and your family for an exceptional vacation
experience to remember.
